Bite-Sized Beats #12: Getting in Strangers with Cars

I know what’s gonna happen here if I say “Kanye”.  Y’all are gonna start talking about how he’s an asshole, how he’s married to some famous woman, how he interrupted a little blonde girl on a stage somewhere, blah, blah, blah.

You know what nobody’s gonna talk about?  His music.  So lets talk about that.

It’s good.  It’s really, really good.  Granted, as a rapper ‘Ye can be a bit hit or miss.  And a few of his songs (*cough* the entirety of 808s and Heartbreak *cough*) were wack.  But there’s plenty of songs where he completely brings it on the mic.  And as for his producing skills?  Rock.  Solid.

This week’s beat is a song I’ve heard almost nobody talk about, which is a damn shame.  It demonstrates a skill Kanye has and doesn’t use nearly enough: narration. (see also Spaceship).  He can tell a damn good, Ghostface-calibur tale when he really wants to, and here he proves that to a tee.  Also, listen to that sample.  Honey-smooth.  Here’s Kanye West with Late:
